Importance of Decision making

Described by Drackor ,''the decision making is the most important function of the management whatever the manager does he does through decision on making this statement focus the importance of decision making."

The major importance or advantages or needs of decision making can be explained as:

I) Selecting the best alternatives

Decision making support the management to select or most appropriate alternatives to solve the problems. It also helps and negative expect of the decision, to analyze the cost, time and or efforts etc than the best alternative is selected.

II) Indispensable component

Decision making is required for all departments and units. The function of decision making is carried out by all levels of management therefore it is regarded indispensable component of management.

III) Pervasive Function

Decision making is important functions of management it is included in all managerial functions like planning, organizing, contraling and in all function areas like production marketing, accounting etc. Therefore it is known as pervasive functions as per Drucker says “whatever manager does he does through decision making this also shows the pervasiveness of decision making

IV) Basis for the evaluation of managers functions

Decision is regarded as one of the technique or tools of evaluating the performance of managers. The rationality effectiveness and achieving the goals by the decisions of mangers are the criteria of evaluation.
