Meaning of Planning




Planning is the one of the most important pervasive functions of management. It is the decisions making before doing. From the help of planning we can conformed future process of action to conduct the activities for the achievement of goals or mission. It is concerned with advance what to do? Who to do? Where to do? Etc. It is a process of confirming the goals and achiving such goals in the future it is always future oriented.
According to Koontz and O Donnol “Planning is deciding in advance what to do it, who to do it, where to do it, who is to do it. Planning pridges the gaps from where we are and to where we want to go.”
According to Koontz & Weihrich, “Planning involves collecting proposes and activities of the actions to achieve them, it required decision making that is choosing from amount alternatives future courses of actions.”
According to Accen, “Management planning involves development of forecast, objectives programmed, procedures, schedules and budgets.”
In conclusion the above definition shows that planning is decisions about future it involves selection of the objects, procedures, programs etc from the available alternatives. It is a thinking process and oriented for better results and achievement of the goals.
